About us

Our fairly large and extended laboratory (over 100 staff, in 9 different groups) targets basic and translational aspects of the immune system. This range from the historical study of the human Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC) and its genes to mechanisms of transplant rejection, understanding autoimmune diseases, viral immunopathology and cancer metastasis. With this respect we apply cutting-edge techniques of molecular biology (whole exome, whole genome, RNA sequencing, ...) and bioinformatics in conjunction with the study of unique patient cohorts. Laboratory members are involved in various aspects of biology and medicine. These include full time clinicians, full time researchers, those involved in both the lab and the clinical ward and finally a host of expert staff scientists along with post-docs and students.
